Representatives of the Justin Edinburgh 3 Foundation this week delivered a vital CPR and defibrillator training workshop to members of the Tottenham Hotspurs Under-18s squad – poignantly timed as the club today (Friday 21 April) remembers former Academy Coach Ugo Ehiogu on the six-year anniversary of his passing.

This week’s workshop with the clubs youth team, which serves as part of the Academy’s off-field life skills programme, saw the players learn how to deliver CPR with CEO Charlie Edinburgh and other JE3 tutors to reinforce the importance of responding quickly if someone suffers a cardiac arrest.

Following the Under-18s’ highly beneficial session, the Academy will continue to work with the JE3 Foundation to deliver similar training courses for its younger age groups in the months ahead.

Today, the Justin Edinburgh 3 Foundation marks it’s fourth annual ‘JE3 Day’ to remember Justin and raise further awareness around CPR and Defibrillators.

The annual campaign spotlights rates of cardiac arrest—30,000 per year in the UK—and the need for increased public access to life-saving defibrillators and CPR skills.

Football clubs with a special connection to Justin Edinburgh are showing their support for JE3 Foundation through a day of action, while remembering the former player and manager who passed away from cardiac arrest in 2019.

Supporters from up and down the country, and across leagues can get in on the action with three simple ways to support JE3 Day:

  1. Sign the petition for Justin’s Law. We are currently at just over 55,000 signatures with our target of 100,00 signatures to legally mandate access to Automated External Defibrillators in all health and sports facilities in the UK. We encourage clubs/businesses to share the petition with their respective audience to encourage and drive signatures *link to: https://www.change.org/p/uk-parliament-justins-law-defibrillators-in-all-health-and-sporrs-facilities-in-the-uk
  1. Learn CPR The JE3 Foundation recently launched a new educational film to encourage people to get hands on and learn CPR. We encourage you to share this film with your respective audience to encourage them to watch, learn and practice this life saving skill *link to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1vvB_6dF6A&t=61s
  1. Book a CPR/Defibrillator workshop. Head over to the JE3 Foundation website for more information and Enter ‘CPR’ in the message field to enquire. *link to https://je3foundation.com/contact/

CEO Charlie Edinburgh commented ” JE3 Day is all about continuing to engage with people so that we can encourage them to learn life-saving skills, educate them about the importance of ‘Justin’s Law’ and ultimately save lives.

Today, I ask that people support our cause, and remember my Dad on the day of love (Valentine’s Day), whilst taking time out to sign our petition or book one of our CPR workshops so that we can continue to change outcomes in the face of cardiac arrest.”
